We believe in building and supporting a strong Catholic school.

for all students from Preschool to High School.

The Msgr. Edward C. Dunn Foundation for Education was established in 1985 to support the ongoing mission of Catholic education at St. Peter’s School in Mansfield, Ohio.

Its primary purpose is to generate long-term endowed financial resources for the school, provide scholarships for students, and maintain this most important ministry of the Catholic Church.

Education is not about knowing things or taking lessons but about being able to use three lingos: those of the head, the heart, and the hands… learning so that you can think about what you feel and do, can feel what you think and do, and can do what you feel and think. Unity within a person.”

Academic Excellence through Faith-Based Learning

Catholic schools are synonymous with academic excellence rooted in faith-based learning. Since the school’s humble beginning in 1868, St. Peter’s School has integrated our Catholic faith into every facet of our academic experience. It continues to be rooted in Catholic principles and values and actively embraces diversity and inclusivity. This inclusivity fosters a sense of unity and understanding among students of different faiths and allows for a diverse exchange of perspectives, contributing to a well-rounded education. Catholic schools often prioritize teaching tolerance, respect, and acceptance, emphasizing the common values shared among different faith traditions.

For perspective, in 2010, Richland County, Ohio’s population was 124,745. According to the Glennmary Research Center, only 6,658 persons identifed as Catholic. That is only 7.8% of the population. That is much less than the Diocese of Toledo (19.4%) and State of Ohio (17.3%). Richland County also falls below the state and federal per capita income levels. More than 40% of St. Peter’s School students qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch program.

The Msgr. Edward C. Dunn Foundation is proud to support this mission.
